Terms of use & disclaimer

Please read these terms before using WhatsApp Converter (the "tool", at chat2court.co.uk). By using the tool you agree to them. Last updated: June 2026.

1. What the tool does

WhatsApp Converter reads a WhatsApp chat export that you provide and produces a paginated PDF and a manifest, entirely within your web browser. It is a self-service formatting aid. It does not send your chat or media to any server.

2. Not legal advice

The tool, this website and its guides provide general information only and are not legal advice. They do not create a solicitor–client relationship. Whether and how WhatsApp messages may be used in any proceedings depends on your circumstances and the rules of the relevant court or tribunal. For advice on your situation, consult a qualified solicitor.

3. Your responsibility to check the output

You are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying the output before relying on it, sharing it, or submitting it to any court, tribunal or other party. In particular, you must satisfy yourself that:

The tool is an aid to formatting; it does not replace your own checking. Do not rely on the output without verifying it against the original export.

4. Provenance, not authenticity

The tool records provenance — for example a SHA-256 hash of the source file and of each media file, plus a plain-English statement of method. It does not verify, certify or assert that the underlying conversation is genuine, complete, or unaltered, and it cannot detect messages that were deleted or edited within WhatsApp before you exported them. Any assessment of authenticity or weight is for you, the other parties, and ultimately the court.

5. No warranty

The tool is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability. We do not warrant that the output is free from error or suitable for any particular proceedings.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any loss, damage, cost or expense — including any adverse outcome in any proceedings — arising out of or in connection with your use of, or reliance on, the tool or its output. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law (for example liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud).

7. Trademarks & independence

WhatsApp is a trademark of Meta Platforms, Inc. WhatsApp Converter is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or otherwise connected to WhatsApp or Meta Platforms, Inc. All other trademarks are the property of their respective owners. References to WhatsApp are made only to describe compatibility (the tool reads exports produced by the WhatsApp application).

8. Privacy

Your chat and media are processed locally in your browser and are never uploaded to us. We have no user accounts and take no payments. Optional, anonymous usage analytics are loaded only if you accept the cookie banner, and they never include any chat content. Full details are in our Privacy policy.

9. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or your use of the tool, are governed by the law of England and Wales and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. Nothing in these terms affects any mandatory statutory rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded or limited by law.

10. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version always applies to your use of the tool.
