How to convert a WhatsApp chat to a PDF (free)
Turn a whole WhatsApp conversation — messages, photos, videos and voice-note references — into a single, tidy, searchable PDF you can print, file or share.
Why a PDF?
- Easy to share and print — one file instead of hundreds of messages.
- Searchable — the text is selectable, not a flat image.
- Court- and bundle-ready — A4 pages, page numbers and a contents index.
- Keeps the media — photos appear inline next to the messages they belong to.
Step 1 — Export the chat from WhatsApp
On iPhone: open the chat, tap the name at the top, scroll down and tap Export Chat → With all media. On Android: ⋮ → More → Export chat. You'll get a .zip. (Full walkthrough: how to export a WhatsApp chat.)
Step 2 — Convert it to PDF
Open the converter, drop in the .zip, and it builds a chronological PDF for you: inline photos, a hyperlinked index, page numbers, and an optional case caption. You can filter by date or sender, exclude messages, and redact sensitive details (shown as [REDACTED] and logged).
Step 3 — Download
Download a single text-searchable PDF, plus a manifest.json recording the hashes, filters and any redactions — useful if the PDF is going to be relied on as evidence.
